REINSTEIN ROSS GOLDSMITHS

a multi-faceted jewelry STORE in the meatpacking district

Reinstein Ross crafts exquisite hand‑fabricated jewelry from precious gems and high‑karat gold. When the company expanded to the newly revitalized Meatpacking District, they engaged Jonathan Schloss / Architect to design their new flagship location.

Working in close collaboration with the Reinstein Ross team, the firm created a space organized around three interrelated components: retail, gallery, and workshop. The Gansevoort Street workshop is a visible, laboratory‑like environment where each piece is envisioned and crafted in full view of visitors, reinforcing the brand’s emphasis on process and craftsmanship.

The adjacent gallery presents the work of progressive artists, with a focus on media connected to jewelry, precious stones, and precious metals, extending the store’s role beyond commerce to cultural exhibition. The project entailed a complete gut renovation, including all new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as securing approvals from the NYCLPC.

Custom lighting, millwork, and high‑security display cases were carefully designed to meet the rigorous performance standards of both a gallery and a fine jewelry store, ensuring that the valuable jewelry and artwork are presented with clarity, security and protection, and drama.
